DeSoto Chamber Honors Studio 3 Magic Touch Salon with Ribbon Cutting

On Friday, March 28, the DeSoto Parish Chamber of Commerce honored Mansfieldʼs newest business with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their grand opening. DeSoto Parish Schools Selected for National Budgeting Pilot

Recently, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) selected the DeSoto Parish School Board for participation in GFOA’s PK-12 Budgeting Best Practices Pilot Project  “We are continuously looking for ways to improve our operations and are thrilled GFOA selected us for  this honor,” said Dr. Cade Brumley, Superintendent.

Short topic speakers included Todd Eppler, Chairman of DeSoto Regional Medical Systems, Beverly Joseph with the Louisiana Workforce Commission and Donna Curtis, Executive Director of Shreveport Green.

Myron Prince and Stanley Creech were the lucky winners of this yearʼs Logansport Sand Bass Tournament. Not only did their teamwork bring in First Place, which awarded them $5,000, they also caught the “Big Bass” which gave them another $1,425.00 in prize money

Due to the sponsorship of the DeSoto Parish Police Jury, Shreveport Green will provide DeSoto Parish residents a day of hazardous waste material collection to be held on Saturday, April 5, from 9:00 AM until 12:00
PM. There will be three sites available for the convenience of citizens including the dumpster sites at Logansport, Grand Cane and Stonewall

DeSoto Regional Health System’s Annual Report Given by New Administrator

On February 25, Todd Eppler, Administrator of the DeSoto Regional Health System (DRHS), spoke to a standing room only crowd of members at the annual meeting of the DeSoto Hospital Association (DHA) to give the
“State of the Health System” address to the ownership group. Eppler praised the senior leadership team that ran the facility for nine months in the absence of a Chief Executive Officer. He also gave credit to the Board of Directors for their work in leading the organization

According to the DeSoto Parish Registrar of Voters’ office, DeSoto voters can participate in early voting beginning March 22 through March 29, from 8:30 AM until 6:00 PM daily, and on Saturday. The office will be closed on Sunday

DeSoto EMS Announces Plans to Build New Station on Hwy 509

On February 20, the DeSoto Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Board of Commissioners met with Architect Sara George for a pre-bid conference with about 20 potential bidders attending. A new station will be constructed on HWY 509, near Interstate 49, and will be similar in design to the Central Station, located on HWY 171, north of Mansfield, and the newly constructed Station 1, located on HWY 84, in Logansport
