Some may like it hot, but the Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC] warns that older Americans are at risk when summertime temperatures rise. AMAC president Dan Weber says that heat waves, the kind that have engulfed the nation recently, can cause illness and death among seniors.

On July 24, MidSouth Bank selected the first winner of their “Give Something Away” contest. There will be three non-profit organizations in total chosen from the Bank’s Facebook page. Those that received the most mentions will be declared the winners.

Pastor Kenneth Babers, R, along with Lady Kimberly Babers and the church membership of Living Waters Ministries, will host a Community Fun Day on August 3 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The public is invited to join them for an afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship.

The church is located 417 High School Street in Mansfield, which is directly behind the old Southern Classic building, and just off Hwy 171. Organizers have planned this event in conjunction with the beginning of school for students and families to enjoy themselves, and to be prayerfully refreshed, revived, and ready to leap into a successful school year.

On Saturday, July 20, Dr. Antonio D. Jackson, DVM M.S., will be in Mansfield for his Second Annual Animal Health Clinic. Dr. Jackson is a native of Mansfield as well as a graduate of Mansfield High School, and as promised he has decided to give back to the community. He will tackle some the basic veterinary needs by offering free exams for dogs, cats, horses, and other small pets.
