“PEEWEE” RIGSBY, JR.

5/30/49 – 2/01/23

To know PeeWee was to love him. Husband, Father, Father-In-Law, Pepaw, Grandfather, Pepaw in Law, Friend, Retired Bricklayer, Gun lover, Hunter and Fishermen.

L.E. Rigsby, Jr was born to Luther “Dutch” and Betty Lou Wagley Rigsby in Pleasant Hill, LA on May 30, 1949. He passed away in Natchitoches, LA on February 1, 2023.

He is preceded in death by their son Rusty Earlton Rigsby and grandson Andrew Dillon Moran.

PeeWee is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Williams Rigsby; his daughters Rebecca Ann Moran, Morgan Blair Thornton and Lindsey Paige Mercado; his son’s in law, Tony Moran, Brandon Thornton and Dusty Mercado; 3 grandchildren, TJ Moran and his wife Amber Lynn, Annabeth Sophia Thornton, and Cora Paige Mercado; and 1 great granddaughter, Kadison Lynn Moran.

He was a very talented bricklayer and has left his mark all over Louisiana, Memphis, Tennessee and south Florida with bricks, blocks, pavers, and ceramic tile. From houses to bathroom and kitchen remodels to outdoor kitchens and around swimming pools; let’s not forget brick mailboxes.

PeeWee Rigsby was a man of very many words!

Chances are PeeWee has called you by accident meaning to call someone else, but still talked to you as if that was his intentions; even if it was the wrong number, he probably talked for hours. Or maybe you’ve stood with him in line somewhere or on an aisle in the hunting and fishing section, again talking for hours.

PeeWee loved old cars and trucks, but especially fast cars. He loved to tinker around with things, just to take them apart and put them back together and usually with parts leftover. Typical PeeWee fashion!

He had a fascination with guns from a very young age. He shot competitively for many years and was the ISHMA Louisiana State Champion several times. He and Linda traveled all over the United States to shooting competitions. R.B. Olive was one of his shooting buddies that I’m sure could tell lots of true stories!

PeeWee had lots of friends, but two that he held close were Jesse Sepulvado and Marlon Steadman. He and Jesse always had an outlandish story from their adventures… every single time! And Marlon was always a call away for anything that he needed.

PeeWee, Daddy, Pepaw and Grandfather will be missed terribly. You never knew which door he was standing behind to scare you or which prank you would yet fall victim to. Again.

A memorial service to honor his life was held at 10 am on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 in his memory.
