BackAlley Theatre: How Music Can Improve Your Mental Health

Music is a universal language because no matter where you’re from or what language you speak, you can understand the message. When we listen to music we are using our entire brain-not just one side or the other but both halves working together. Scientists are still trying to figure out how exactly music affects us as much as it does, but what they do know is that music has beneficial effects on our brains. One of the biggest effects is on our mental health.

Another Major Victory for Louisiana: Federal Judge Forces Biden to Follow Immigration Law

In a major win for the Constitution and the rule of law, a federal judge has granted Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry’s request for a preliminary injunction against the Biden Administration over its immigration policies.

While Federal statute clearly requires illegal aliens convicted of felonies to be detained and deported, the Biden Administration has issued unlawful directives that were resulting in the release of criminal aliens. Today, Judge Drew Tipton in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas issued the injunction requiring criminal aliens be deported.

“The fact that a judge had to tell the President of the United States to comply with standing law is shameful,” said Attorney General Landry. “We are a Nation of law and order; dangerous and violent criminal aliens must not be allowed to roam free in our communities.”

Highlights from DeSoto Parish Police Jury Meetings in August

The main agenda items for both regular and the special committee DeSoto Parish Police Jury have been the discussion of upcoming administrative changes, with some being immediate and some in that not so distant future. As usual, the Jury is divided who and how the best way to fill these vacancies and how the chain of command will fall in the office.

For about the last two months, Jurors have gone back and forth from meeting to meeting about whether or not to advertise for a new administrator, what the job description would include, and what the organizational chart of the staff should be. Some believe that the Administrator should be at the top, while others think the Human Resource Officer should be over the Administrator.
